Walter Bauman Jewelers is currently run by Walter and Russell Bauman, grandchildren of the founding Walter O. Bauman, in addition to a group of talented and dedicated managers, experts and sales consultants. To better serve its customers, Walter Bauman Jewelers has made it policy to have at least one trained gemologist or diamond expert, as well as a jewelry craftsperson, at each of its locations.
At present, Walter Bauman Jewelers has ten graduates of the Gemological Institute of America on staff. In addition, Walter Bauman Jewelers is one of the most reputable gold buyers in New Jersey. Out of 50 gold buyers statewide, Walter Bauman Jewelers was the only gold buyer to be without violations.

About our history
Walter Bauman Jewelers traces its beginning to 1868, when Walter O. Bauman’s grandfather started a wholesale watch and jewelry
business in Pittsburgh, PA. Shortly thereafter, the business moved to New York City following a growing demand for fine jewelry and timepieces. In 1935, Walter O. Bauman was happy to accept his grandfather’s invitation to join him in the expanding wholesale business.
First Store in West Orange
After years of requests from the public, Walter O. Bauman decided to open a retail store. In 1960, he found the perfect location at 653 Eagle Rock Avenue in West Orange, New Jersey, where the flagship store can be found today. His idea was to offer the public the same low prices other retailers were paying for merchandise. Combined with unmatched selection and service, the West Orange store soon became well-known for having the best deals on fine jewelry and giftware.
In the 1970’s, Walter Bauman Jewelers began its involvement with Estate and Antique jewelry. By paying the highest prices for any gold or diamond jewelry and watches, they have built a spectacular collection, including many one-of-a-kind pieces. In that regard, Walter Bauman Jewelers has worked hard for the past 40 years to make itself one of America’s great dealers in purchasing and selling vintage jewelry.
