Freddie Bauman Scelsa, a cherished member of the Bauman family and a vital part of Walter Bauman Jewelers, passed away peacefully surrounded by love this past Sunday morning after a long battle with cancer. Her presence graced both her family and community with elegance, strength, and a generous spirit.

Freddie dedicated much of her life to working alongside her siblings, Margery & Ed, in the family business, helping shape Walter Bauman Jewelers into a beloved institution. Her refined eye, strong work ethic, and personal warmth made her a fixture both behind the counter and in the hearts of countless customers.

More than anything, Freddie was devoted to her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Vin Scelsa, her adored daughter Kate, and Kate’s wife Amanda— a second daughter in every way. She was the proud grandmother of Frida, the light of her life, and treasured every moment spent with her. Freddie’s love for her family was boundless, and her joy in their accomplishments, milestones, and everyday moments was unmistakable.

Freddie touched the lives of many—not just as a colleague or family member, but as a friend and mentor. Whether offering advice, support, or simply a kind word, she had an extraordinary ability to make those around her feel valued.

She is also survived by her extended family of nieces, nephews, siblings, and dear friends, all of whom will carry her memory with deep affection.

A private service will be held for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to a charity close to your heart in Freddie’s memory.
